Family Bonding Time

The whole fam took a stroll on the Moulton Falls trail today, a nice flat walk (cause I've still got a gimp foot- must really go to the doctor) along the Lewis River. It was a very springy day- actual sunshine and warmth! Exciting! This is one of the better family pics we've taken, usually someone's blinking or making a goofy face.

This picture is so NW

Portland!

I had my camera today, so I walked around the park blocks when I was taking a break from work to take a few pictures of the city. It's sakura season right now, so it's looking pretty cute.

Hello pot? This is kettle

George Bush has astounded me yet againwith his capacity for selective memory, denial, and compartmentalization. He was in Columbia, and in talking about the drug trade and rebel groups in that country, said "We can not tolerate people who take innocent lives to achieve political gain."

Riiiight.........

As my dad said, does he think he can just say anything he wants when he's in other countries and no one will notice? Praise the lord he'll be out in 2008. Bring on the democrats. Or at the very least, someone with the capacity for abstract thought (to quote O Brother Where Art Thou?).

Grad School

So I think most of you know, but I plan on going to grad school this fall to get a masters in folklore. That's right folklore! Yes, you can get a degree in this, and yes an actual job after you graduate! I still want to go into the non-profit arts field doing some type of community work. And folklore is a very broad, diverse, interdisciplinary field, you can do almost anything with your research. I want to study how the role of women in portrayed through the arts- mainly performance arts- and want to focus on Appalachian women in the south, and I'm also interested in Indonesian women (yay for the Ramayana!).

I hope that clears up everyones questions =)
My top choices are University of Oregon and University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. Got an email from U of O saying I'm in last week, so waiting to hear if UNC comes through too so I can decide, but at least I know I won't be sitting around like a bum on my parents couch come the fall. Yes!!

In other news, I got my haircut this week, check it out.
