Index, WA

Over MLK weekend I stayed in a cabin in Index, WA, about an hour and a half outside Seattle. It was lovely- gorgeous views and surprisingly sunny weather. Our cabin had a hot tub with a view of the Skyhomish river- it was heaven.

Katie, Kelley, Ashely, me, and Tim. The river was low enough to walk out on the sandbar in the middle.

I loooooove hot tubs- especially when you get nice scenery to go with it, reminded me of being at a Japanese onsen.

Maybe you can, but can I?

Obama said a lot of things and made a lot of promises in his inaugural speech today. One part that particularly stood out to me was this:

"The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."

So, does that include me Obama? Because the last time I checked you weren't going to give me my human rights. I have lots of hope for you, but I'm not holding my breath.

To paraphrase J.K. Rowling, sometimes you have to choose between what is right, and what is easy. What will you choose Obama?
