Pinang & Ayu: A Love Story

Here are some pictures from my MA thesis project, which was a lesbian-themed wayang kulit (Indonesian shadow-puppet show). It was such an amazing night, there were somewhere between 100 and 150 people there, and they were such a great, responsive audience, they really made me ham it up. I haven't had a performance where I was the center of attention for a years, and I'd forgotten how fun it can be to work with the audience. It definitely wasn't the most amazing puppetry in the world, but what I lacked in skill I made up for in story (I hope anyway!). I love folklore- yay for getting a masters via lesbian puppet show!
