Thanksgiving 2013

Susan and I had Thanksgiving at home this year, and our friends Esme and Bethany joined us. It was nice and relaxing.
Stuffing with gravy and cranberry sauce; brussel sprouts with mustard; tamale

Butternut squash, mushroom, and goat cheese lasagna! The picture really does not do it justice. This is Susan's recipe, I requested it be our main Thanksgiving dish.

Conferencing

In the same month I had conferences in Baltimore and Chicago. In Chicago it was for a math ed conference, so I just went to me and my research partner's poster session and spent the rest of the time hanging out with friends.

Smell-a-vision at McCormick & Schmidts Store, which wasn't as cool as we'd hoped

With Bryan, my research partner, before our presentation. I had two at this conference.

Conference 2- Chicago! Here I am at the bean in Millennium Park

The conference hotel was super fancy!
I got to meet De's son, Theo. What a cutie! He was totally posing for the camera :-)

I think he likes me!

Vegan Korean food!! I was really excited to eat this soup.

This place was lovely! And so was seeing Joy.

Had to get a pic of the rainbow towers in boys town.

Last meal at Chicago Diner, a vegan restaurant. I'd also had a haircut- there was a tornado earlier that day, and Joy and I waited it out at the salon.

Mom's visit

Mom visited in October, and we had a fabulous time! We hung out in Chapel Hill and in Wilkes.

On UNC's campus

Tea at the Carolina Inn- my favorite!

At the NC State Fair

We got apples for a cleanse after sampling lots of fried food

Kirby did a good job looking extra pathetic after I told him to get down while we were eating.

Denise (my aunt) and Landon (her grandson) at an auction at one of my relatives- 2nd or 3rd cousin or something?

My uncle Pat bid on this box of hats for me- I was stoked!

Grandma and Landon

Landon being cute

Landon being cranky- his cranky face is the best.

My cousin's Jed (Landon's dad!) and Luke, celebrating their birthdays

An overnight trip to Asheville

We were excited to go to this bookstore/bar

Mom relives memories of terrorizing Denise when they were kids

On the parkway- sadly with the warm weather we'd had mom didn't get to see the leaves at their peak
Those this pic!
