Tomboi Army Puppet

These days I'm working hard on my terminal project. It's a wayang kulit (Indonesian Shadow-Puppet theater) performance, with the script written by yours truly. So naturally, it features a lesbian storyline. Here's the tomboi army puppet I'm making. The next step is to paint it, and then attach a stick to it for a handle. It took way, way more hours than I want to remember to cut out all those holes. Many a bad movie and America's Next Top Model episode were watched.

Watching her scold Senator Burr gives me shivers!

Port Townsend

I spent a few days in Port Townsend and surrounding areas for a folklore conference. The weather was amazing except for our last full day when the gray coldness returned. The folklorists I met were lovely, it was nice to connect with people working in the field.

There was a trail that went up the hill behind our cabins that had wonderful views of the sound.

Looking down at the cabins.

The trail also went past old structures that were part of Fort Worden, the state park where we stayed.

On our last full day we took a ferry to Whidbey island. This is the kind of weather I expecting for early April, gray and chilly.
