Back to school!

School starts tomorrow- and I'm ready with some new school supplies from my momma.

Myrtle Beach!

We finally got to the beach! We made a last minute decision to go to Myrtle Beach, a popular destination in South Carolina. Remnants of a tropical storm made us miss swimming on Saturday, but we wandered around the boardwalk and walked on the beach in the rain to make the best of it. Sunday was hot and sunny, and we swam to our hearts content. I would stay in the water all day if I could, but that's cause I'm half mermaid. We also went to not 1, but 2 tacky putt-putt golf courses. Because what is a beach vacation without some putt-putt?

I am becoming my father

Just look at this outfit- outdoorsy sandals (at least I'm not wearing socks), shorts, baggy T-shirt and a floppy hat that doesn't coordinate with any of it. Good grief. I was using the hat to prevent the sunburn, but still... Maybe it's because I always think of my dad when I go to the beach, because he taught me how to swim in the ocean to not get beat up by the waves and body surf when I was a kid on our family vacations. I remember once we were there at the end of the season in October, and on a cooler day my dad, sister, and I were all whining to my mom that we wanted to get in the water. She finally said OK but we had to stay in there an hour. We did, begging her to let us back in. And yes, this included my dad :-) Ah, good times.
