
This is one of the 3 biggest festivals in Japan and it's here in Osaka. The boats have portable shrines that are taken out of their resting places and carried down to the river. Each boat is full of people cheering and clapping, and when it gets dark enough they start setting off fireworks. It was ridiculously crowded of course with the police doing slightly obsessive crowd control so when you started walking in one direction you couldn't stop, so I wandered off the bridge to find some food and couldn't get back on it again. Oh well, got to see the boats in the beginning anyway. Most of them had sponsers, all the beer companies had a boat which was kinda funny. Lots of people looked festive wearing their yukata and some guys were wearing jin bei. Next week going to 2 fireworks festival, as August is officially fireworks season here in good old Nihon,
