Eugene

I finally made a trip down to Eugene on Sunday to look for a place to live and to check out the campus that will be my new home for the next 2 years. Eugene is only a 2 hour drive south of Portland but I'd never been there, kinda funny considering I'm moving there September 15. The campus is really cute, lots of brick buildings and grassy spaces. Eugene itself is so tiny- we were driving around to look at a few house options, and could get from place to place in about 5 minutes. I found a really nice place to live, a woman is renting out 3 rooms in her house to female grad students. Its only 2 miles from campus and downtown- though since Eugene is tiny, this is considered a different area. If this was Seattle, it would still be in the U-District. The house has a lot of open space, theres 2 cats that live there, a hot tub, and the highlight for me- a piano! Totally stoked that I can play the piano whenever I want. Not a lot of restaurants were open downtown on a Sunday, I think its going to be a bit of a culture shock to live in a small town. But if I go stir crazy Portland is only a drive away, in my sweet ride! Speaking of my sweet ride, I have been able to drive it safely without adult supervision for several weeks now.
